Library Cat 2026 has gone to the dogs! This year, both fancy felines AND debonair dogs are eligible for a chance at being selected as Alexandria Library’s featured pets of the year!
Brush those tails, fluff those whiskers, and get ready: submit your dog and cat photos between June 29 and July 17 for a chance to claim the esteemed title of Alexandria Library Cat or Library Dog of 2026 – plus extreme bragging rights, of course!
Then, vote for your favorite from July 27 through August 3. Votes can be cast online or in person at one of Alexandria Library’s branches. One dog winner and one cat winner will be chosen. Winning pets will receive a personalized trophy, a special photo feature on the website, life-sized cutouts on display at the branches, and more!
Alexandria Library is looking for your best glamour shots, silly poses, and your pets showing off their main character energy. Special limited-edition t-shirts and buttons will also be available at the branches. Plus, they want to hear the stories that make your beloved cats and dogs remarkable. They are a library, after all.
Visit Alexandria Library’s website to submit your pet’s most demure and dapper photos, along with a short bio.
